Article Processing Charges
The Journal of Public Health International is an open-access journal: readers pay nothing to read or reuse its articles. Publication costs are met by an article processing charge (APC), set out in full on this page.

For every article type, payable only after acceptance.
The charge
The APC for the Journal of Public Health International is USD 1,800. The same charge applies to every article type, from Original Research to Letter. It becomes payable only after the manuscript has been accepted for publication, and billing details are sent to the corresponding author at that point.

Permanent, free online access under CC BY 4.0. JPHI articles will be deposited in Portico for long-term preservation.
Manuscript withdrawal
These terms apply to every manuscript submitted to the journal.
- Authors should contact the editorial office promptly and wait for written confirmation before submitting the work elsewhere.
- Manuscripts withdrawn within 3 days of submission are not subject to a withdrawal charge.
- Manuscripts withdrawn more than 3 days after submission incur a withdrawal charge equal to 30% of the journal's APC.
- Authors must receive official withdrawal confirmation before submitting the manuscript to another journal.
For JPHI, 30% of the APC amounts to USD 540.

When is the APC payable?
The APC is payable only after acceptance. Billing details are sent to the corresponding author once the manuscript has been accepted.
Does the APC differ by article type?
No. The APC is USD 1,800 for every article type.
Does payment affect the editorial decision?
No. Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal, and are made before any charge becomes payable.
What if my manuscript is not accepted?
No APC is charged for a manuscript that is not accepted. The terms in the manuscript withdrawal section above apply to manuscripts that authors ask to remove from consideration.
