Copyright and License in full
Copyright
Authors retain copyright in the articles they publish in JPHI. On acceptance, authors grant Open Access Pub, the publisher of the journal, a license to publish the article and to identify itself as the original publisher.
Authors keep the right to reuse their article in later work, such as books, theses, teaching material and presentations, and to share it on personal websites, academic networks and in repositories.
The CC BY 4.0 license
Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0). Under this license anyone may:
- Share: copy and redistribute the article in any medium or format.
- Adapt: remix, transform and build upon the article for any purpose, including commercial use.
These freedoms apply on two conditions. Users give appropriate credit, link to the license and indicate whether changes were made. Users do not apply legal terms or technological measures that restrict others from doing anything the license permits.
Attribution when reusing an article
Credit for a reused JPHI article includes:
- the authors' names and the article title
- the journal name, Journal of Public Health International, with the year, volume and issue
- the DOI or URL of the article
- the license, CC BY 4.0, with a link to it
- a statement of any changes made to the original
Third-party material
The CC BY 4.0 license covers the content created by the authors. It does not cover material owned by others that is reproduced in an article with permission, such as a figure or table from another publication, unless its credit line states that it is also available under CC BY. Trademarks and logos are not covered.
Authors obtain written permission for any third-party material before submission, supply it with the manuscript and give the source in the caption. Material from articles under CC BY needs attribution but usually no permission; authors check the license of the source. See Data Archiving and Permissions.
