Propose a Special Issue
Lead focused exploration of emerging plant biology topics.
Shape Scientific Discourse
Special Issues provide curated collections exploring specific themes in depth. JAPB invites established plant scientists to propose topics and serve as Guest Editors, guiding the community toward critical areas of inquiry.
Topic Definition
Craft a compelling theme addressing timely questions in plant genomics, stress biology, development, ecology, or agricultural applications.
Author Recruitment
Invite leading plant scientists and emerging researchers to contribute original research, reviews, and perspectives on the theme.
Peer Review Oversight
Manage the review process with editorial office support. Ensure rigorous evaluation while maintaining timeline commitments.
Editorial Introduction
Write an introductory editorial synthesizing the collection, highlighting key findings, and contextualizing contributions.
- Proposed title and 200-300 word scope description
- Justification for topic timeliness and significance to plant biology
- List of 10-15 potential sub-topics or article types
- Names of potential contributors with preliminary expressions of interest
- Guest Editor CV and relevant plant biology publication history
- Proposed timeline (typically 9-12 months from announcement to closure)
We particularly welcome proposals addressing: climate-resilient crop development, plant-microbiome interactions, single-cell transcriptomics in plants, CRISPR applications in agriculture, plant secondary metabolism, circadian biology, and sustainable intensification strategies.
