Article Processing Charges
Medical and Psychological Trauma (JMPT) publishes open access so clinicians, researchers, and practitioners can apply trauma research without subscription barriers. Article Processing Charges (APCs) support rigorous peer review, production quality, and long term preservation for clinical and psychological trauma studies.
APCs are applied only after acceptance. We maintain clear pricing, offer waivers for eligible authors, and provide documentation for institutional and grant reporting.
APC Overview
The average APC for research and review articles is USD 2,100. JMPT offers a student rate of USD 540 with valid student identification. Active members, editors, and reviewers may receive discounts of up to forty percent based on eligibility. There is no submission or peer review fee.
Invoices are issued after acceptance and can be billed to institutions, hospitals, or grant offices. Receipts and compliance letters are available on request.

Waivers and Billing
Partial waivers are considered for authors in low and lower middle income regions. Requests should be submitted with the cover letter.
Invoices can be sent to departments, hospitals, or grant offices with documentation for audits.
If a manuscript is withdrawn after three days from submission, a withdrawal charge of thirty percent applies.
We can provide documentation for grant budgets and institutional open access programs.
APC Transparency
APCs support independent editorial decisions and do not influence peer review. Editors and reviewers never see payment information, and acceptance is based on quality, ethics, and relevance to trauma practice. JMPT publishes fee details clearly and confirms any discounts in writing after acceptance. This separation protects objectivity and strengthens trust in published outcomes. If your institution requires pre approval, we can provide a pro forma invoice.
Funding Planning
Budget APCs early in grant proposals or departmental open access plans. Early coordination with finance offices avoids delays after acceptance and keeps clinical teams aligned on compliance and reimbursement needs. We can provide a pro forma invoice, budget language, and a short statement of services to support internal approvals.
Billing Support
The editorial office issues invoices, receipts, and compliance letters for institutional reporting. Split billing is available for multi site collaborations, and invoices can be addressed to hospitals, universities, or grant administrators. Payment options are flexible to accommodate public and private funding sources.
Waiver and Discount Review
Waiver requests are evaluated case by case with consideration of funding availability, regional constraints, and author eligibility. Provide a brief justification and supporting documentation at submission to avoid delays. Approved discounts are applied after acceptance and confirmed by the editorial office.
Compliance and Audit Readiness
Many institutions require documentation for open access reporting. JMPT provides standardized payment confirmation letters, DOI records, and publication metadata that align with research office audits and grant close out checks. Maintain these records with your publication files for rapid compliance responses.
Value for Authors
APCs sustain high quality peer review, professional production, and long term archiving. Authors benefit from DOI registration, citation tracking, and global visibility across clinical and psychological audiences. The fee supports quality assurance that protects patient safety and research integrity.
Support for Rapid Publication
Timely publication is important for trauma care advances. APCs help fund production staffing, proof coordination, and accelerated release once acceptance is final. This allows evidence to reach clinicians, counselors, and policy leaders without delay.
Cost Allocation Guidance
For multi author teams, identify the billing contact early and confirm any institutional caps or funder limits. If multiple grants support the work, note the preferred cost split in the cover letter. The editorial office can provide itemized invoices or letters describing services delivered, including peer review administration and production support. This helps research offices process payments quickly and reduces delays between acceptance and publication.
Payment Timeline
Payment is requested after acceptance, and production begins once payment or institutional confirmation is received. If your institution requires longer processing time, notify the editorial office so we can align scheduling and avoid delays. This coordination helps ensure timely release.
