Author-Friendly Open Access Licensing

The Journal of DNA and RNA Research (JDRR) operates under an open-access publishing model that ensures immediate, unrestricted access to published research while allowing authors to retain copyright ownership of their work. Our licensing framework is designed to maximize the dissemination and impact of nucleic acid research while providing appropriate attribution for authors and clear permissions for readers and other users.

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)

All articles published in JDRR are distributed under the CC BY 4.0 license

Attribution Requirements

Users of content published in JDRR must provide appropriate credit when sharing, adapting, or building upon published work. Proper attribution includes citing the original authors, article title, journal name, publication date, and DOI or URL to the original publication. Users should indicate if modifications were made to the original work and must not suggest that the authors or JDRR endorse the user or their use of the work.

The CC BY 4.0 license requires attribution but imposes no additional restrictions. Users are free to share and adapt published content for any purpose, including commercial applications, educational use, and further research, provided proper credit is given. This permissive approach maximizes the utility and impact of published nucleic acid research.

Author Rights and Retention

Copyright Ownership

Authors retain full copyright ownership of their published work in JDRR. By submitting a manuscript, authors grant JDRR a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive the work. This arrangement allows authors to retain all other rights including the ability to reuse their work in future publications, presentations, and educational materials without seeking permission from the journal.

Self-Archiving

Authors may deposit the published version of their article in institutional repositories, preprint servers, personal websites, and other platforms immediately upon publication with no embargo period. All self-archived versions should include complete citation information and a link to the original publication.

Reuse in Future Works

Authors may reuse figures, tables, and text from their JDRR publications in subsequent research articles, book chapters, theses, and other scholarly works. Proper citation of the original JDRR publication is required, but no permission from the journal is necessary for such author self-reuse.

Third-Party Content: Authors must obtain necessary permissions for any third-party content (figures, tables, or substantial text excerpts) included in their manuscripts that is not covered by fair use provisions. Proof of permission should be provided during the submission process. Authors are responsible for ensuring that included third-party content is compatible with open-access publication under CC BY 4.0.

Publisher Responsibilities

JDRR commits to maintaining published content in perpetuity through digital preservation partnerships and archival initiatives. We provide DOIs for all published articles ensuring permanent citability and discoverability. The journal maintains clear records of publication dates, version history, and any corrections or retractions for transparency and scholarly record-keeping.

Authors are credited prominently on all published versions of their work. We support ORCID integration for enhanced author identification, Open Researcher and Contributor ID, which uniquely identifies researchers and ensures proper attribution across publication databases. Authors are strongly encouraged to register for an ORCID iD and link it to their submissions for improved discoverability of their complete research portfolio. We also support ROR (Research Organization Registry) institutional identifiers for author identification and provide article-level metrics to help authors and institutions assess research impact. Any changes to published content, including corrections or retractions, are handled transparently with clear links between original and updated versions.

License Enforcement

JDRR actively monitors for license compliance and works with institutions and publishers to ensure proper attribution when JDRR content is reused. Authors who discover unauthorized or improperly attributed use of their work may contact the editorial office for assistance in securing compliance. We work collaboratively with users who inadvertently fail to meet attribution requirements while taking appropriate action against systematic violations. The open-access model depends on reciprocal respect for attribution norms, and JDRR is committed to protecting both author rights and the integrity of the scholarly communication system.
