Submission Guidelines
Manuscripts submitted to special issues undergo the same rigorous peer review as regular JDRR submissions. All contributions must meet JDRR standards for scientific quality, originality, and ethical conduct. Special issue submissions follow standard author guidelines with the additional requirement of clearly indicating the target special issue during submission.
When submitting through ManuscriptZone or the simple submission form, select the appropriate special issue from the available options or indicate the special issue title in your cover letter. Include a brief statement explaining how your manuscript fits within the special issue scope. Invited authors should mention their invitation from the guest editors.
- Select target special issue during submission
- Follow standard JDRR author guidelines
- Include scope alignment statement in cover letter
- Reference invitation if applicable
- Adhere to special issue submission deadline
Review Process
Special issue submissions are initially reviewed by guest editors for scope alignment before proceeding to peer review. Guest editors may recommend reviewers with relevant expertise, though final reviewer selection and editorial decisions remain with the JDRR editorial team. This process ensures consistent quality standards while benefiting from guest editor subject matter knowledge.
Accepted manuscripts are published online upon completion of production, with assignment to the special issue collection. This rolling publication model ensures timely dissemination while allowing the complete special issue to develop over time. Authors receive the same production support including professional copyediting, figure optimization, and DOI assignment.
Open Submissions: Many JDRR special issues welcome unsolicited submissions in addition to invited contributions. Check current special issue announcements for topics accepting open submissions and relevant deadlines. Even uninvited manuscripts addressing special issue topics may be considered if space permits and quality standards are met.
Article Processing Charges
Standard JDRR article processing charges apply to all special issue contributions. All fellowship membership discounts including Associate fifteen percent, Researcher twenty-five percent, and Principal Investigator forty percent reductions remain valid. Standard institutional agreements apply. Membership and institutional agreements remain valid for special issue submissions. Authors requiring financial assistance should indicate this during submission; waiver eligibility follows standard JDRR policies for researchers from low and middle-income countries.
Guest editors coordinate special issue submissions and may provide initial scope assessments, though final editorial decisions remain with the JDRR team. Contributors benefit from curated collections that attract focused readership and generate higher visibility within specific research communities, enhancing the impact of individual articles through association with comprehensive special issue coverage.
