Submit to Special Issue
Contribute your research to focused collections advancing genetic engineering science
Submission Guidelines
Manuscripts submitted to special issues undergo the same rigorous peer review as regular submissions. When submitting, select the appropriate special issue from available options or indicate the special issue title in your cover letter.
- Select target special issue during submission
- Follow standard JGE author guidelines
- Include scope alignment statement in cover letter
- Reference invitation if applicable
- Adhere to special issue submission deadline
Review Process
Special issue submissions are initially reviewed by guest editors for scope alignment before proceeding to peer review. Accepted manuscripts are published online upon completion of production, with assignment to the special issue collection.
All fellowship membership discounts remain valid. Standard APCs apply with waivers available for eligible researchers.
Open Submissions: Many JGE special issues welcome unsolicited submissions. Check current announcements for topics accepting open submissions and relevant deadlines.
Review and Publication Process
Special issue manuscripts undergo the same rigorous double-blind peer review as regular JGE submissions. Guest editors may provide initial scope assessment, but external reviewers evaluate scientific merit independently. This ensures consistent quality standards across all published research regardless of submission pathway.
Accepted manuscripts are published online upon completion of production and assigned to the special issue collection. Articles appear individually as they are finalized, building the collection progressively rather than waiting for simultaneous release. This approach accelerates dissemination of accepted research.
Article Processing Charges
Standard JGE Article Processing Charges apply to special issue submissions. All fellowship membership discounts remain valid including Associate (15%), Researcher (25%), and Principal Investigator (40%) reductions. Waivers are available for eligible researchers from low and middle-income countries based on Research4Life classifications.
